Tango Masters

We are delighted to have with us this year the best tango dancers and instructors that Buenos Aires has to offer.

Miguel Ángel Zotto &
Daiana Gúspero (Tango Salon)

The legendary tango dancer, choreographer and performer Miguel Ángel Zotto was born into a "tanguero" family in Vicente Lopez, Buenos Aires on August 7, 1958. His grandfather was a tango dancer and his father was a dancer and actor, so Miguel Ángel developed his tango consciousness from a very early age.

As  a young adult, Miguel Ángel immersed himself in the milongas of Buenos Aires, and in 1977 focused his entire attention on tango when he joined the tango academy of Rodolfo Dinzel. With great intensity, he pursued his study of tango and in 1984 he began teaching tango at the Belgrano University in Buenos Aires.

He received great acclaim in 1985 when he performed the lead role in the show Jazmines by Ana María Steckelman. World tours followed, including four years with the mythical Broadway show Tango Argentino. In 1988, Miguel Ángel created his own dance company Tango X 2. With his new partner, Daiana Gúspero, Miguel Ángel has entered a new and exciting creative phase.

Pablo Nievas and Valeria Zunino (Tango Nuevo/Fantasia)

Pablo Nievas and Valeria Zunino are renowned dancers and teachers of international acclaim. They are one of the most solid and attractive dance couples of the new generation of tango dancers.

Their artistic interpretation and technical precision are well known around the world. Their style of milonga traspié is in high demand.

Pablo was once a student of the legendary Pepito Avellaneda. When in Buenos Aires, Pablo and Valeria are often seen performing and teaching at Confiteria "la Ideal".

Orlando Budini (Tango Milonguero)

Orlando Budini is one of the milongueros who still perambulates around the world, with the style and culture of the original tango of the 40's and 50's. His father, Rogelio Budini, was a composer of tango scores, played the bandoneon with Juan D'Arienzo, and also directed his own orchestra. So, since a young age, Orlando Budini went to the milongas where his dad played and learned to dance tango.

Orlando is one of the founders of Tango Dallas and the producer and director of the Metatango Festival. Currently, Orlando spends six months in Buenos Aires and the rest of the time in Europe, the Unites States, and Mexico, dancing and teaching his style of Tango Milonguero at the most popular milongas.

Orlando prefers to teach listening to the music and to understand "el golpe de compás" (the strike of the rhythm) and to DANCE WITH THE MUSIC in the most classical milonguero style (torso to torso), as it is danced in the milongas in Buenos Aires.
